Truth & Dare

Truth & Dare

The truth of life is we have limited time and energy. And the dare is taking the opportunities to carefully pick and choose those moments that account to a fantastic 2017!

Wrestler, Patricia Miranda reminds us that, “If you go through life doing stuff that is easy, shame on you.”

Dare is when you make the necessary changes and take note of how you go about getting “there.”  Do something out of the ordinary as much as possible. This could be as simple as taking a long walk rather than watching television.

Here are 5 ideas to get you into living out of the ordinary:

  1. Learn something new – For example take a class – painting, sewing or creative writing. At there are various courses offered. Also at courses are offered free through the Vancouver Public Library.
  2. Explore a new sport or physical discipline such as dance, martial arts, yoga, etc. Or go play in the great outdoors.unnamed
  3. Create a scrapbook or a vision board and let your creative spark run wild.
  4. Teach/Share your skills. Consider volunteering some of your time to teaching others what you excel at: cooking, managing finances, public speaking, or start a meet up.
  5. Grow something! Start a garden, a savings account, or adopt a pet.

Whatever you choose should be something you’re interested in. Following through will not always be what you want to do at that moment, but your efforts will pay off in the long run. Be true to you and choose to be daring by stepping out of the ordinary.

Still need help, take heed from Warren Buffet’s advice to his pilot:

“First, you write down a list of twenty-five career goals. Second, you do some soul searching and circle the five highest priority goals. Just five. You take a good hard look at the twenty goals you didn’t circle. These you avoid at all costs. They are what distract you, they eat away time and energy, taking your eye from the goals that matter more.”

Wishing you the best for 2017!
